2024 Fan Fest Date: Friday, June 21

2024 Race Date: Sunday, June 23

Volunteer Information and Requirements:

Be a part of the 102nd Running of The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, brought to you by Gran Turismo. Volunteers are needed for multiple aspects of the event and are essential to the PPIHC's event operations.

All volunteers must be 18 years or older and must sign a release of liability waiver prior to the event.

Volunteers are encouraged to work as many dates/events as possible.

PPIHC insurance policy requires that all registered volunteers be actively volunteering at a PPIHC event in order to obtain a valid credential.

Credentials are non-transferable.

Consider the following when reviewing volunteer opportunities:

It is important to note that the Race starts at 9,390 feet and ends at 14,115 feet.

High altitude can cause dramatically changing weather conditions. If you volunteer for any on mountain positions, you will be at altitude for up to 12 hours.  Plan ahead and pack for all weather conditions.

Working at altitude makes physical activity more difficult. Volunteers need to be in good health to maintain stamina and focus.

Other non-Race Day volunteer opportunities exist, such as at Fan Fest, if working at altitude is a concern.

New for 2024

Increased volunteer information access with an all new PPIHC Info Hub App.

PPIHC Zone Managers at each Race Day location for better support and equipment management.

Volunteer Meeting Information

A mandatory in-person meeting will take place on Tuesday, June 18 from 5:30pm-7:00pm. Credentials, event shirts, and specific event information will be distributed at the meeting on June 18 so attendance is mandatory.

Volunteer Assignment Descriptions

Fan Fest (Friday, 12pm-9pm): Approx. 50 total volunteers needed

Fan Fest is an opportunity for the Colorado Springs community to come together and meet drivers, interact with vendors, and watch the FMX demonstrations in Downtown Colorado Springs.

As a Fan Fest volunteer, duties include vendor registration, onsite check-in, traffic control, and assist with vendor parking prior to the event. During the event, volunteers will monitor fire lanes and support PPIHC Staff where needed. At the event’s conclusion volunteers will assist with teardown and cleanup.

Camping Check-in (Saturday, 9:30am-6:00pm): Approx. 75 total volunteers needed

Locations will vary along the course to include areas above the Pits/Turn 1 (Start Line Area) and below. Volunteers will assist with camping permit ticket holder check-in at the various spectator areas along the course. Volunteers will verify camping permits to make sure that only authorized vehicles are camping on the mountain. Volunteers will assist with directing cars to parking spots in their respective area based upon the layout and requirements set up. Volunteers who also have a shift on Sunday have the option of camping out onsite for their Race Day position.

Race Day Spectator Area Volunteer (Sunday, 2:00am- End of Race): Approx. 120 total volunteers needed.

Locations will vary along the course to include areas above the Pits/Turn 1 (Start Line Area) and below. All locations above the Pits/Turn 1 (Start Line Area) will not be able to leave until the Race is complete. Volunteers will assist with directing parking and traffic control. Volunteers will direct cars to parking spots in their respective area based upon the layout and requirements set up. Throughout the early morning, volunteers will work with the onsite Zone Manager to provide updates on the parking capacity. Once a parking lot is closed/full, volunteers will be a resource for spectators by answering questions (or directing them to someone who can answer their question). During the event volunteers will be responsible for picking up trash and emptying the trash totes into the roll-off dumpsters. At the conclusion of the event, volunteers will handle crowd control for the Parade of Champions and assist with traffic flow as spectators exit their lot and leave the mountain.
